چکیده

Abstract New analyses of baryon spectra in proton-proton and proton-carbon collisions at $$\sqrt{s}_\mathrm {_{NN}}=17.3$$ s NN = 17.3 GeV, made the framework two phenomenological models are presented. The first model question is classic Dual Parton Model by Capella Tran Thanh Van, second Gluon Exchange very recently proposed authors. For both studies, usage modern experimental data from CERN SPS eliminates several most important limitations inherent to earlier studies this type. In standard mechanism stopping with preservation diquark, Van fails describe distribution non-strange baryons projectile proton more than one nucleon carbon target obtained data, upper limit for contribution can be established. cases, conclusion that diquark must often disintegrated. This opens new diagrams not available which lead transport number over long distances rapidity. present limitations, possibility improvement approaches discussed. implications our findings measurements addressed, particular using antiproton beams.

Baryon Stopping in Proton-Nucleus Collisions

We calculate the inclusive small-x valence quark production cross section in protonnucleus collisions at high energies. The calculation is performed in the framework of the Color Glass Condensate formalism. We consider both the case when the valence quark originates inside the nucleus and the case when it originates inside the proton. We first calculate the cross section in the quasi-classical ...

Strangeness production in proton - proton and proton - nucleus collisions ∗

In these lectures we discuss the investigation of the strange meson production in protonproton (pp) and in proton-nucleus (pA) reactions within an effective Lagrangian model. The kaon production proceeds mainly via the excitations of N(1650), N(1710), and N(1720) resonant intermediate nucleonic states, in the collision of two initial state nucleons. Therefore, the strangeness production is expe...

Photoproduction of quarkonium in proton-proton and nucleus-nucleus collisions.

We discuss the photoproduction of Upsilon and J/psi at high energy pp, pp, and heavy ion colliders. We predict large rates in pp interactions at the Fermilab Tevatron and in pp and heavy ion interactions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The J/psi is also produced copiously at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. These reactions can be used to study the gluon distribution in protons and heavy ...

Electromagnetic interactions in nucleus-nucleus and proton-proton collisions

The strong electromagnetic fields associated with ultra-relativistic protons and nuclei correspond to an equivalent flux of photons. At the future Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the corresponding photon-nucleon center of mass energies will be higher than at any existing accelerator. The experimental and theoretical aspects of particle production in electromagnetic interactions at hadron collide...

Nuclear like effects in proton-proton collisions at high energy

We show that several effects considered nuclear effects are not nuclear in the sense that they do not only occur in nucleus-nucleus and hadron-nucleus collisions but, as well, they are present in hadron-hadron (proton-proton) collisions. The matter creation mechanism in hh, hA and AA collision is always the same. The pT suppression of particles produced in large multiplicity events compared to ...
